Maori Masks
Last week, we were learning all about New Zealand in Geography and the Maori people in History. The Maori people were the first people to live on the Islands of New Zealand. The Maori people have many cultural rituals such as the Haka which New Zealand Rugby team perform before their matches.
The Maori people performed this long ago to intimidate their opponents in battle. We learned how the Maori people had facial tattoos which was also a tactic to scare their opponents.
Students in room 8 created their own facial tattoos on masks inspired by facial tattoos of the Maori people.
